These compact control units were developed in accordance with European standard EN 12101, parts 9 and 10. High-level smoke exhaust openings and a sufficient number of fresh air inlets in the lower areas, combined with the use of these control units, allow smoke, gases and heat to be naturally exhausted. This enables people still inside the building to leave through an area with low smoke levels. Meanwhile, the fire brigade can extinguish the fire, and rescue personnel can evacuate people safely. At the heart of our system is the compact FV 3 and/or FV 6 control panel (3 A and 6 A outputs), comprising a primary and a secondary power supply, as well as all the control technology required to operate 24 VDC actuators. The control unit operates the actuators for everyday ventilation and in the event of a fire. Special ventilation functions (restricted ventilation, hold-to-run function, automatic ventilation) can be freely configured and programmed individually by the user. In the event of a power failure, the emergency power supply (lead-acid batteries) maintains the operation of the smoke and heat exhaust system for at least 72 hours.
Optimally controlled stairwells
Smoke and heat exhaust systems (FV) are an important component of preventive fire protection. The greatest danger to people during a building fire is the toxic smoke produced. Smoke exhaust openings at the top of the building and a sufficient number of fresh air inlets in the lower areas allow smoke and heat to be exhausted, enabling people to evacuate the building and emergency personnel to extinguish the flames.
The smoke and heat exhaust system is part of the building fire protection system, and its installation is required by law in many European countries. The authorities issue a permit specifying how these requirements are to be implemented. Before installing the smoke and heat exhaust system, it must be demonstrated that the system meets the required official standards.
