The door leaves must be protected against falling during normal use or if a single component of the fastening system breaks. A door leaf must not be able to move uncontrollably if a component breaks. If a hinge or other support fails or is damaged, the fall-arrest device must be able to hold the door leaf in position with a maximum displacement of 30 cm from the axis of rotation. The door must also be fitted with a device that prevents the door leaf from being lifted by more than 50% of the hinge pin length, or of any other support, during opening or closing (anti-lift device).
